ABOUT
Bambush is a celebration of Black culture, creativity and joy, all through the lens of making home.

I say making home because I believe home isn't just a physical space. It's a feeling, a state of being, something spiritual. It's wherever we can find it, because we live in a world that doesn't always feel safe for us. Spaces where we feel truly seen and genuinely home aren't a given. I wanted to create somewhere that could help with that, even if only in a small way.

Home can be a concept as much as it can be a place. But when it is a place, it deserves to feel like yours. Whether you're still figuring out what home means to you or you're ready to bring more culture and creativity into your space, there's something here for you.

Bambush is home to downloadable nature/ancestry inspired pattern prints for your DIY projects, a growing collection of Black artists and makers creating beautiful things for your living spaces, and the home truths blog, where I share honest reflections on what making home can look like and all the bits and pieces that come along with that.

About the creator

Hey! I'm Kei Maye. I'm a multidisciplinary artist and digital education specialist who found therapy in surface pattern design, creating patterns rooted in nature and ancestry.

In my past life I was an arts education specialist and the founder of an arts education platform called Creative Champs and although it was a great time, I realised I wanted to go back to being the artist again.

I have stage 4 endometriosis & fibroids, so comfort and adjustments in my living space isn't optional, it's essential. I'm obsessed with utopias and world building, the idea that we can create safe spaces that bring us home in every sense of the word. I've saved all the juicy details for the home truths blog :)
