My Mid-Century Market Budget Haul:  Vintage Finds and Homeware

Midcentury modern has my heart. So naturally, when the Midcentury Market came to town, I had to find myself there - and I'm very glad I did! For those who haven't heard of Midcentury Markets, it's a fairly new event that travels from location to location full of vendors who sell all kinds of MCM items, from furniture to accessories and textiles to home decor. If you want to find out if this event is happening near you, access the upcoming dates page here.

I put aside a small budget because, full transparency, I'm on a strict budget until I pay off my credit cards in 4 months time, so I wasn't able to splash out as much as I would have liked, but I'll share the things I grabbed and some of the items I liked the look of (and managed to get a picture of.) Here’s my mid-century market budget haul, with all the affordable vintage furniture and homeware finds I picked up on the day.

Decorative Resin Paperweight

Cost: £10

All of the shells and biomaterial in this sculpture were fused in resin back in the 1960s. I thought it was cool to have something that captured natural materials from that moment in time!

Midcentury Glass Trinket Dish

Cost: £4

I thought this was both useful and cute. Originally I had planned to use it as a jewellery dish, but then when I got home, I dashed my keys in there and decided to use it to hold those instead.

6pc Wicker Placemat & Coaster Set

Cost: £10

I love these. I'm planning on elevating my dining table situation for when I'm not creating in that space. I want to layer these placemats with some patterned textiles to complement them. The coasters are cute as well.

Raffia Lamp (lightbulb included)

Cost: £14

It was love at first sight with this one. Seeing that it was only 14 quid sealed the deal with me, with the added bonus of not having to go shopping for a perfectly fitting lightbulb (I hate having to buy lightbulbs).

Eventually, I'm going to buy an LED bulb and then get rid of the cord in the safest way possible - so that I can place the lamp wherever I want as right now, my options are limited.

Now, here are some items that I couldn't grab or carry but that I liked anyway.

Midcentury Danish Tiled Coffee Table

Cost: £195

Vintage Beechwood Bar Stools with Rush Seats

Cost: £95 for the pair.

Mid Century Teak Oval Coffee Table

Cost: £295

As time rolls on I'll be able to share more images of these items in situ as I continue to decorate my space!
